If questions surrounding Bennett's academic eligibility are true then we can almost guarantee that the Gators and the Wildcats may have backed off Bennett because neither of these two schools can afford to tie up a scholarship, or wait for that matter, until mere weeks before practice begins to learn if Bennett will indeed be eligible to play. If character issues also exist, on top of the questions concerning his academic eligibility, then this is a double whammy for Bennett.
So while BBN is fuming over the appearance that Bennett dropped the Cats we must consider that UK may have dropped Bennett first. Of course the rules surrounding recruiting stipulates that no coach employed by the UK program can comment on a recruit until he signs his LOI, so considering this fact we will never know. But I am hedging my bet that UK told Bennett to hit the road.

Great points! This makes sense that UK would stop recruiting this kid. BBN will survive without him but you made some really good points!
ReplyDeleteOh wow. The "We didnt want him anyway" card huh?? If convincing yourself of this helps you sleep better at night William... More power to ya!
ReplyDeleteIt makes all the sense in the world pal.. Fans wanted him, yes, and still do but that doesn't mean the UK staff wanted him.. Read the article next time instead of assuming it came from a "fans" perspective...
ReplyDeleteWilliam is right on track with this article. Great points and it is probably the truth.
ReplyDeleteIf the information in this article is true then the Big Blue Nation doesn't want him. Why do we need a kid that may not play because of grades. Calipari has been stabbed more than once because of grades. Go on to UNLV let them go on probation instead of UK.
ReplyDeleteI remember watching a video interview of Anthony Bennett and there were some red flags. He was so adamant about being the guy on whatever team he played for and he said outright that he couldn't wait to get into the NBA draft. Most recruits have this philosophy and desire especially at UK but the way he came out and said it in the interview rubbed me the wrong way. My analysis: I won't lie I would have been happy if UK landed this talented player but he's a tweener, he wants to play the 3 in the next level and he just didn't sit right with me.
ReplyDeleteThe issues have always been there. Excuses.
ReplyDeleteGreat points except for 1; "the Wildcats may have backed off Bennett because neither of these two schools can afford to tie up a scholarship".
ReplyDeleteWe only have 7 scholarship players right now, right?
wow. no proof--or anything approching it--offered, just idle speculation from a jilted suitor. and predictably you lapdogs unquestioningly nod your heads in approval. look, i know you guys are used to getting any little thing your hearts desire, but this is just sad. you just won a national championship. your recruiting class is #1. is all that diminished if you merely get most of the gold? do you really have to have it ALL?
