Did Kentucky Drop Anthony Bennett First? I would Say Yes

We can speculate why Anthony Bennett "seemingly" dropped the University of Kentucky from his list of potential schools until the end of time but we can also consider that Kentucky may have dropped Bennett first. We have no pipeline into the inner-sanctum of UK recruiting, we have no way of knowing the true conversations between; recruit, handler and school, all we can do is speculate. We do know however that reports of Bennett's academic eligibility came into question early last week and reports also began to surface that Bennett had some character issues as well. Two important factors that had not been previously disclosed. And all of the sudden Florida was "seemingly" dropped by Bennett's people and 72 hours later UK was removed from the list.

If questions surrounding Bennett's academic eligibility are true then we can almost guarantee that the Gators and the Wildcats may have backed off Bennett because neither of these two schools can afford to tie up a scholarship, or wait for that matter, until mere weeks before practice begins to learn if Bennett will indeed be eligible to play. If character issues also exist, on top of the questions concerning his academic eligibility, then this is a double whammy for Bennett.

So while BBN is fuming over the appearance that Bennett dropped the Cats we must consider that UK may have dropped Bennett first. Of course the rules surrounding recruiting stipulates that no coach employed by the UK program can comment on a recruit until he signs his LOI, so considering this fact we will never know. But I am hedging my bet that UK told Bennett to hit the road.
